RECAP: Wild Women Tribe Collaboration Summer Hiking Experience
Last Wednesday morning I had the opportunity to collaborate with Wild Women Tribe to lead a hike at one of my favorite Park City trails. The theme of my hiking experience was centered around finding an intention in the power of nature to awaken our creativity, everyday awe, and mindful movement.
We hiked, we meditated, we breathed, we grounded in nature, we moved, and we danced - shedding inhibition on a mountaintop overlooking vistas that spark inspiration.
We started from the Round Valley Trail Trailhead and headed on a fifteen minute hike to one of my favorite views in all of Park City. This is the vista that people come to Park City to take pictures of. This is the view that truly inspires - makes you feel so grateful for living in a place like this and getting to share the majesty of it with others. I love taking people here because it fills you right up with feelings of awe and inspirations. It takes your breath away and creates a sense of wonder. It makes you feel small (in a good way) and helps your understand how we are all interconnected and how the mountains create a sense of joy.
At this location overlooking Park City Mountain, Renee the leader of the Wild Women Tribe shared an exercise around eye gazing where you find a partner and stare into their eyes, really seeing them. It’s beautiful because only a daily basis we do not take the time to actually truly see people for who they are. We meditated leaning into our senses - hearing, feeling, smelling, tasting, seeing what’s around us - being fully in the present moment. Then I lead the group in a mindful movement experience where we activated our muscles in an intentional way while leaning into the feelings of joy that our mountain backdrop was providing. Towards the end of our movement exercise, I invited the group into a moment of dance to let go of their inhibition and just feel free while amongst the wildflowers.
🌿 By finding intention in the power of nature to awaken creativity we can imagine natural environments as a canvas, ready to receive the colorful strokes of our imagination. By creating space, away from the hustle and bustle we have the opportunity to unlock the gates of our creativity. Remind yourself to take quiet moments to breathe in the fresh air and feel the earth beneath your feet.
⛰️ When we intentionally experience awe in our everyday lives it means we are slowing down to notice things around us that maybe we haven't noticed before, we are more in the present moment experiencing what is happening in the here and now, and finding beauty in the ordinary.
💪🏻 To mindfully move your body, you notice how it feels to move your muscles, to breathe through strengthening exercises, to feel grateful for all the places your body takes you to, and to stabilize and reset your body before moving on to the next set of exercises. Just because we can move through the motions without thinking about them, not feeling connected to our body, doesn't mean we should.
💃 And by taking a moment to DANCE on a mountaintop you can find a sense of joy and excitement by releasing any inhibitions and allowing yourself to just be free. Move your body in any way that feels good to you. Let the joy of the moment fill your heart as you express yourself through movement. Embrace the freedom and liberation that comes with dancing in nature.
We did all this and then some. Movement/Mindfulness/Joy/Play/Nature - all interconnected for a fun freeing experience - not your average Wednesday morning ... but it could be ...
