I started a Substack: Living the Stoked Life (but I think I am no longer doing a Substack)
Not another health, wellness, and fitness email ....
Well Yes, I know this field is sooooo saturated, but hear me out:
Through this less markety and longer form writing platform I hope to create some STOKE around the things that light me up and hopefully in turn light you up.
Rest assured, I won't turn these emails into epic sagas. I totally get it - nobody likes expecting a quick read and ending up lost in wordy paragraphs.
Topics you might find me writing about and that I (just) had a quick brainstorm on:
- How to Create More Stoke in Your Life
- What is Approachable Badassery
- How I went from A Yoga Hater to An All In Yogi
- Wellness Travel Guides
- Thoughts around Movement being Medicine
- Why Tending to a Vegetable Garden is Self-Care
- How I Can't Stop Staring at My Golden Retriever and Why That is Good Wellbeing
- ETC
But yeah, I want this space to be a place where together we can ponder wellness, movement, mindfulness, nature, play, gratitude, some woo woo, and ways to live a Stoked Life - because isn't that what this is all about? How do I feel excited about where I am in my life in this present moment, even though there might be challenges - being in the now can feel exhilarating!
But also … snowboarding, mountain biking, surfing, hiking (add your fave outdoor activity) and the like are exhilarating too - so how do we also feel strong and confident in our bodies and lives to continue to do these things bring so much JOY!
That's why I call myself a Stoke Coach (and not just a personal trainer)! I help people get Stoked on their life through movement, mindfulness, and connection to nature.
I truly believe that Movement is Medicine and that by being outside and moving our bodies in nature we can live happier, healthier lives - if you are interested in exploring this with me —>
Ok a little bit about me if you haven't visited the ABOUT ME section on the Stoke Coach Website (www.stokecoach.com)
Hey there, I'm Rachel!
I'm a New York City native with an insatiable thirst for life, which has led me to explore diverse facets of myself without confining to any labels. While I adore the glamour of Manhattan's city lights, my heart truly sings when I'm shredding snow-capped mountains or catching waves along the coast. Movement fuels my spirit.
Since childhood, I've been drawn to the exhilaration of freedom and carving my own path. From escaping my crib to tackling various sports like field hockey, tennis, softball, golf, skiing, and other sports, I've always embraced an active lifestyle. This passion led me to graduate from the University of Michigan with a BA in Sports Management and Communication, alongside achieving my ACE Personal Training Certification, and Yoga Teacher Certification.
Although I initially pursued a career in the sports industry, my journey took an unexpected turn when I discovered my love for the great outdoors in Vail, Colorado, where I was a self-proclaimed ski bum for 6 years. Transitioning from ski bum life to the buzzing startup scene in San Francisco, I delved into the world of PR, Marketing, Social Media, and Events collaborating with innovative outdoor brands and agencies. It was here that I honed my skills, conquered fears, and expanded my network.
My experiences inspired me to become a Stoke Coach, dedicated to guiding others towards total wellness and self-reinvention. I believe in embracing outdoor adventures, fostering a healthier lifestyle, and finding joy in movement. As a coach, I empower individuals to step out of their comfort zones and embrace their inner badass, one small step at a time, something I like to call approachable badassery.
Reflecting on my carefree childhood days, I've realized that my happiest moments were spent outdoors. Today, I wake up with a thirst for new experiences, constantly challenging myself to grow and make an impact. Fitness, for me, isn't just about aesthetics; it's about feeling strong, confident, and capable in your own skin.
In my free time, you'll find me snowboarding, traveling, spending time with my daughter, running with my golden retriever Indy, cooking, mountain biking, playing tennis, doing yoga outside, or exploring the trails of Park City, Utah, where my husband and I reside. I'm passionate about breaking down barriers to fitness and outdoor exploration, helping others unlock their full potential, and embrace life with unbridled enthusiasm.
If you're ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery, wellness, and adventure, I'm here to be your coach, motivator, and biggest cheerleader. Let's rewrite the way you see exercise and fitness, making it fun, playful, and ultimately, deeply rewarding. Together, let's embrace the stoke of life!
CAN I GET A HELL YEAH?!
